Universal Studios in Singapore is now Open

March 18, 2010 is the day that Universal Studios in Singapore was opened to the public. The first guests who were invited were the RWS staffs and their families who enjoyed the many rides there since March 13.

The Singapore’s version of Universal Studios would give you a feel of the many movie themed attractions that are popular. Though, RWS, advised that not all of the attractions would already be available during their preview phase as they are still making more adjustments both technically and creatively. This $4.4 billion project in Singapore expected 4.5 million visitors!

Universal Studios is situated in Resorts World Sentosa and the resort had opened 4 hotels such as Hard Rock, Hotel Michael, Festive and Crockfords Tower last January then last month they also opened a casino.  Although they anticipated 4.5 million visitors, they are also expecting an arrival of tourists that could reach 13 million or more.

As to the ticket prices, it will have a partial rebate worth $15 that can be used for shopping or as dining vouchers used at the theme park. The prices range from S$66 to S$72 for an adult depending on the peak and off-peak seasons. Children pay S$48 to S$52 while senior citizens above the age of 65 can buy tickets worth S$32-36.

This Universal Studios theme park is the largest in all of South East Asia. This theme park also brought together the best features of all the other Universal Studios in California, Florida and Japan. They also added 2 tallest roller coasters in the world! Plus, this is the first Universal Studios with the Shrek inspired castle and a theme park ride with the theme of Madagascar.

All in all, they have 24 rides & attractions in total scattered around the 7 themed zones. The 7 themed zones are New York, Hollywood, Ancient Egypt, Sci-Fi City, Lost World, Madagascar and Far Far away.
